The ACC Asia Cup is a men’s One Day International & Twenty20 International cricket tournament. It was established in 1983 when the Asian Cricket Council was founded as a measure to promote goodwill between Asian countries. It was originally scheduled to be held every two years.
The first Asia cup was held in 1984 in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates where the council’s offices were based (until 1995). India boycotted the 1986 tournament due to strained cricketing relations with Sri Lanka. Pakistan boycotted the 1990–91 tournament due to strained political relations with India. The 1993 tournament was cancelled due to strained political relations between India and Pakistan. The ACC has announced that the tournament will be held biennially from 2008 onwards.
The ICC has ruled that all games played in the Asia Cup have official ODI status.
The Asia World Cup 2018 (also known as Unimoni Asia Cup) will be a One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates in September 2018. It will be the 14th edition of the Asia Cup and the third time the tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates, after the 1984 and 1995 tournaments. India is the defending champions. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to be played in India. It was moved to the United Arab Emirates, following on going political tensions between India and Pakistan
Format: The schedule and format of the tournament was announced on 24 July 2018, with the six teams split into two groups of three. The top two teams from each of the groups will then progress to the Super Four section of the tournament. From there, the top two teams of the Super Four section will then play each other in the final. Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the opening game of the tournament at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
There are total 6 six teams i.e. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and an Asia cup Qualifier (These six teams are Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, Oman, Singapore, and UAE.)The matches start from 15 September 2018 to 28 September 2018.The final of this World CUP will be on 28 September 2018.
